I have to say that the setting of this one makes it ideal for those who have never really fancied the real-world setting of the Total War series in the past. Some of the larger creatures and monsters, in particular, look phenomenal and are very impressive in their design. It is just so well polished and it all looks great. These are real time battles so you really have to get your tactics right and think about what you are doing, but at the same time you cannot take too long to make your decisions or you will be paying for it dearly! Style As Well As SubstanceĪs a fan of Warhammer, I feel that they completely nailed the style with this game. The actual battles have a ton of strategy to them. It features all that you would expect from a Total War game, but due to the setting everything here just feels more epic. Making peace, making deals and of course waging war when needed. Each map is rather large and you will be moving your armies around. I imagine they are more willing to change this than anything that is rift-campaign only, as if this lessens peoples enjoyment of mortal empires the game will lose support and people wont buy their DLC, and the DLC is what made the warhammer games such a cash cow for them. The gameplay is very familiar to those who love the Total War series. Regarding siege maps for minor settlements, I am unsure. While the Warhammer setting, of course, makes Total War: Warhammer 2 stand out from the other games in the series.

If you have this along with the first Total War Warhammer game, you can get a free extra massive campaign called Mortal Empires that mashes the two campaigns together in a more sandbox kind of way.
They each have their own storylines and cutscenes and it is pretty amazing just how much content this campaign has. Eye of the Vortex is what the campaign is called and it is absolutely massive! There are many different races such as lizardmen, high elves, dark elves and many more, but each one has its own part of the campaign. I would go as far as to say that Total War: Warhammer 2 has the most epic campaign of any Total War game. I enjoy both the Total War games and Warhammer so the two coming together was something that I was super excited for and it more than met my unrealistic expectations!
